Are the 2010s Making a Comeback?

From chunky glasses to boho chic vibes, the Y2K style is back in full swing.

It feels like a throwback to old Tumblr days; Kesha confidently strolling New York streets; Kristen Stewart rocking a clip-on overall strap on the red carpet; and celebrities swapping serious Bayonetta style glasses for thick black frames. It’s almost like we’re living 2012 all over again.

This comeback was bound to happen. The last few years have been all about 90s and Y2K fashion, so it makes sense that the 2010s would follow. The resurgence of indie sleaze with Charli XCX’s bratty style, boho chic looks, and McQueen’s skull motifs has really pushed this trend forward.

For those of us who remember trying to look like Skrillex by removing our Wayfarer lenses or painting our faces with glitter before Euphoria made it mainstream, seeing the 2010s come back might feel a bit confusing. But celebrities are embracing the chunky frames and styles of that era with fresh takes.

Kristen Stewart made waves recently wearing a clip-on overall strap by Thom Browne, mixing edgy and feminine vibes. Meanwhile, Tracee Ellis Ross and Dua Lipa are rocking thick face-hugging glasses; Ross with sharp angles and Lipa with softer round shapes.

And maybe the biggest sign the 2010s are back is Kesha herself. She’s returned full force with new music, reminding us that this decade’s energy is far from fading.
