Studs are Here for the Summer

The stud trend traces back to Alaïa’s legendary flats, which, though embellished with stones, heavily influenced contemporary streetwear brands and designers. Soon after their release, exact copies flooded the market, and within days, stud details expanded beyond flats to bags, tops, and even swimwear. Even three years later, studs remain a lasting fixture in fashion.

Gimaguas

Spanish brand Gimaguas stands out with studded suede bags, belts, tops, and bikinis. After Kylie Jenner posted photos wearing Gimaguas’ studded bikini top and matching shorts—referencing Chanel’s iconic 1995 runway look—the trend received ultimate validation. Recently, Kylie showcased a limited-edition studded Havaianas collaboration by Gimaguas, sparking high demand despite no official launch yet.

Beyond Gimaguas, designers like Khaite, Prada, Reformation, Isabel Marant, Dries Van Noten, The Attico, and Valentino (notably famous for its Rockstud line) keep studs trending. Khaite’s founder Catherine Holstein cleverly integrates studs across shoes, belts, jackets, and bags. Valentino’s Alessandro Michele made a statement with the studded suede Nellcôte bag, quickly becoming an It-bag with fans like Bella Hadid and Alexa Chung.

On the denim front, brands like Re/Done and Haikure offer studded jeans that reinvent classics with modern flair—such as Haikure’s wide-leg Winona model, a fresh alternative to traditional denim.
