A New Category Joins the Lineup
For the first time, the Oscars will include a category called Best Casting. Originally announced in early 2024, this award will debut at the 2026 ceremony and aims to honor the crucial role casting directors play in shaping performances on screen.

New AI Guidelines in Eligibility Rules
A major addition to this year's eligibility rules involves generative artificial intelligence. While the use of AI or digital tools in filmmaking will not influence a nomination positively or negatively, the Academy emphasizes that human creative ownership remains central to their evaluation process.

Stricter Voting Rules for Members
In a change to the voting process, Academy members will now be required to watch every nominated film in a category before casting their final votes. This move is designed to ensure fairer and more informed outcomes.

Nominee Announcement Date
Mark your calendars: the 2026 Oscar nominees will be revealed on Thursday, January 22.

Conan O'Brien Returns as Host
Following a well-received performance in 2025, comedian and late-night host Conan O'Brien will return to host the Oscars for a second time in 2026.

The Ceremony Venue
As in previous years, the event is expected to be held at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, which has hosted the Oscars since 2002.
